~ All About Ms. Courtney ~

Ms. Dawn Courtney is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of the University of Central Oklahoma who is certified to teach grades K-3 along with  English, Math, Science, & Social Studies in grades 6-8. She was named National Outstanding Female in 2000 by the American Association of University Women and is a member of the National Science Foundation Merit Scholars' and Educators' Association. Ms. Courtney has served as treasurer for the Edmond Reading Council and belongs to many professional reading associations including the IRA and NRA. She was trained in Great Expectations,  Dr. Ruby Payne's "aha!" process, "Closing the Achievement Gap", Literacy 1st, School's Attuned/PACE, Ron Clark's Essential 55, Brain Compatible Strategies, Dr. Mel Levine's "A Mind at a Time", the Applebaum Training Institute's "Hard to Handle Student", "Motivating the Unmotivated", Eric Jensen and Pat Pevelka and Dr. Jim Fay's "Teaching & Parenting with Love & Logic". Ms. Courtney is also the proud teacher of a Reading Renaissance Master Classroom. 

Teaching is the most wondrous profession! Children truly are our future and by reaching each and every child, that future can be assured bright. It is both an honor and a joy to teach the most precious children in the world ... YOURS!

Ms. Courtney enjoys spending time with her daughter & friends. (Her daughter's senior picture is below!! xoxo) She and her daughter like listening to music, getting pedicures, going to movies, and trying new restaurants. Ms. Courtney enjoys playing with Murphy, photography, home redecorating, live theater, museums, reading, Tai Chi, listening to music, Saturday night boxing (watching NOT participating!), painting, working on the computer and MORE reading!
